Frequently Asked Questions
Can Zen Reno & Design work with my contractor?
Certainly, at Zen Reno & Design I am open to collaborating with any contractor chosen for the project. However, projects often proceed more smoothly when working with contractors who are familiar and trusted. This familiarity allows for streamlined communication, better coordination, and a shared understanding of project expectations, ultimately enhancing the overall quality and efficiency of the renovation process.
Are project management services offered?
While Zen Reno & Design does not offer formal construction project management services, which requires a special license in construction in the state of Florida, the role of 'design manager' is taken on to oversee the execution of the design vision. Throughout the project, there is active involvement to ensure that the design is fully understood and accurately implemented by the contractor. This includes conducting site visits during the renovation process and providing guidance to address any unforeseen decisions or challenges that may arise. The goal is to protect the integrity of the project and design, ensuring a seamless and satisfying renovation experience for the client.
How are design fees determined?
I charge a flat design fee, with revisions and design management billed separately. Through years of experience, I’ve honed my pricing structure to best serve both my clients and myself. By keeping revisions separate from the initial design fee, I can offer a more competitive and transparent pricing model. This way, you’re not paying for revisions upfront—especially since many clients find they don’t need them. During the initial design phase, I use tools like a detailed questionnaire and mood board to ensure the design aligns perfectly with your vision and needs. This careful approach has consistently led to successful projects and satisfied clients. My goal is to get it right the first time, and I often do! If revisions are needed, I’ll provide a clear quote beforehand so you can make an informed decision.
Where are materials sourced from?
Material sourcing for each project is tailored to fit the specific requirements, budget constraints, and desired aesthetic outcomes of each individual project. I meticulously curate selections from a variety of sources, ranging from my favorite showrooms and vendors to popular online retailers to ensure a diverse array of options.
How involved are clients in design decisions?
Client input is highly valued, and there is a strong commitment to incorporating the client’s preferences and vision throughout the design process. However, allowing time and space to independently explore ideas enables the designer to fully tap into creativity, resulting in truly innovative solutions. Once the design concepts are developed, they are presented to the client, with ample opportunity for revisions. The ultimate goal is to create a space that not only exceeds expectations but also provides a seamless and enjoyable design experience, alleviating the stress of countless decisions from the client’s shoulders.
